Hopefully it will suck less than the old nerdportal.org.


I've made two big changes. First, the site is no longer hosted from my house. I switched ISPs to FiOS. They seem to change my IP more than is practical to update, and the bastards block port 80. Normally this would be show stopper, but the bandwidth I get is just too insane to give up. 15 Mbit down and 2 up. For LESS than comcast. So, I've moved np.o to a shared host. They're pretty OK and way cheap, but I couldn't get Newsclipper to install. Since Newsclipper has been pretty much abandoned by it's developer for about 5 years now, I figured it was time to move on. Which brings us to the second change. I've moved everything over to Drupal. It's not quite perfect for np.o, but I was using it for another project and I'm WAY to lazy to try learn something new.


It's a little disappointing to me that np.o is no longer a crappy php script that's served on an underpowered whitebox server in my hall closet. It's definitely a lot less punk rock.


Another disappointment was that I forgot to register nerdportal.com. Some scummy domain squatter picked it up. Meh. It only got like 3 hits a month and 2 where from me.
